Will County Bar Association Family Committee

About The Family Committee

The Family Committee serves lawyers practicing in the area of family law, which includes, divorce, post-decree divorce and paternity matters in Will County. The Committee creates a forum for family law practitioners to share knowledge, information and best practices. The Family Committee meets to discuss new developments in the law pertaining to family law, such as the enactment of new laws and decisions from the Appellate and Supreme Court. In addition, the Family Committee arranges meetings for speakers outside the legal profession to educate practitioners in areas effecting the practice such as financial planning, real estate, mental health of children and adults, and substance abuse. The Committee provides an important avenue for open dialogue between the family law Judges in Will Committee and the practitioners. The Committee is at times called upon by the Judiciary to disseminate information to the practitioners and provide input on decisions regarding procedural matters and local court rules.

The Family Committee meets on various dates at 4:30 at rotating locations.
